Information about the course

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

This unit applies to workers who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation in a range of complex situations, include community and workplace settings.

Specific licensing requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training, should be obtained from the relevant state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory

The HLTAID007 unit focuses theoretical and practical aspects of Oxygen therapy, use of positive pressure ventilation with BVM / Oxy-viva, Airway adjuncts (OP Airway) various techniques to maintain and protect an airway. These skills will better prepare emergency workers in DFES, FIFO ESO's and the Water Police where the use of such equipment is called upon.

Target audience

Existing workers in this industry who may require advanced first aid training as recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council.

Prerequisites

• There are no prerequisites for this course

Award issued Training and Assessment on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909

Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the statement of attainment for:

• HLTAID007 Provide advanced resuscitation

• HLTAID001 Perform cardio pulmonary resuscitation

Initial Course duration

• Mixed Mode: Completion of CPR pre-course study plus 4 hours practical training

• Face to Face:  6 hours face to face training.
