HLTPAT005 - Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse Testing
The course applies to individuals who are involved in collecting specimens for drugs of abuse testing. It will provide individuals with the skills and knowledge required to confirm collection requirements, prepare client and equipment and collect specimens via urine and/or oral and breath testing following the special procedures that apply for drugs of abuse testing in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice. The skills and knowledge gained by completing this course would be beneficial for individuals working in collection centres, in hospitals, in other health care environments and workplaces where drugs of abuse testing take place.

Units Delivered:

The following units will be included in your certificate:

HLTPAT005 - Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing.

Certificates issued within 24 Hours of successful course completion. Unless course is run on a Friday or Saturday, in which case, certificates will be issued on the Monday.
​
Certificates for this course are issued under the auspices of ABC First Aid Aid RTO 3399

Course Venue and durations:
​
​
This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider. Public courses are conducted at 3/5 Goddard Street, Rockingham.

Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of 8 Hours
​
Assessment activities:
​
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.
​
Performance tasks:
-
Collect a urine sample for drugs of abuse testing (non-compliant client)
-
Collect an oral fluid sample for drugs of abuse testing (tampered sample - problem-solving)
-
Collect a breath sample for drugs of abuse testing
Documentation:
-
Chain of custody forms for a urine sample, oral fluid sample, and a breath analysis sample
Theory assessment - A written assessment consisting of short-answer and multiple-choice questions
