FACT SHEET - ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR PERFORM RESCUE FROM A LIVE LOW VOLTAGE PANEL

The NEW LVR Unit UETDRMP007 is now available for bookings with EMCARE. If you do not hold an Electrical licence or Electrical Trade Certificate you will need to complete the UEECD0007 - Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace. This unit is a once off qualification and will not require annual renewal. Another option is to complete the UETDREL006 Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker on this page.  Both of these units are once off qualifications.  If you already hold either of these units, please email us a copy and we can RPL you.

If you are not a licenced Electrical worker or do not hold the required Electrical Trade Certificate. We can create a course with either the UETDREL006 or UEECD0007. Please email EMCARE (firstaid@emcare.com.au)

These units are once-off qualifications and need not be repeated annually.

For those still wanting the OLD (still current and being phased out in a few months) UETDRRF004, EMCARE is still offering this unit until October 2024.  Please refer to this page. This may be a better option if you are a non-licenced Electrical worker. Only available until October 2024.

This course covers the skills and knowledge required to perform a rescue from live low voltage (LV) electrical apparatus in an electricity supply industry (ESI) environment. This does not include overhead lines and underground cables. It includes the organisational workplace requirements for the inspection and use of live LV panel rescue equipment, and how it applies to ESI workers to meet work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS), mobility and mutual aid requirements.

This course provides you with the knowledge and skills to work safely in the electrotechnology industry by following work health and safety (WHS) or occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations and codes of practice. You'll learn how to identify hazards and control risks and follow the proper procedures to ensure a safe working environment. You'll also learn about your responsibilities for health and safety in the workplace and how to manage risks and follow safety practices in an electrotechnology workplace.

Completing the course will provide an individual with the skills and knowledge to carry out and complete the LV panel rescue procedure, safe work methods for safely removing an electric shock victim from a live electrical situation, and to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a casualty in a range of situations. It consists of real-life practical skills and knowledge to allow the participant to be assessed as competent in providing CPR in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines as well as rescue procedures from a LV apparatus.

Due to the high-risk nature of the industry, the program is regarded as a mandatory requirement for specific industries in which employees are required to develop or maintain their professional skills.
